Obituary for Margaret Feser Roulston

Margaret “Peggy”Feser Roulston, 69, of San Mateo, passed from this life unexpectedly on Monday, May 9, 2022 at her home from natural causes. Born in Miami, Florida, Peggy moved to San Mateo in 2002 coming from Warm Springs, Georgia. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Miami in 1970 where she was the captain of the cheerleading squad in her senior year. After graduating from high school, she attended Miami Dade Junior College and graduated with an Associate in Arts Degree in June of 1972. She then graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in August of 1974. Peggy continued her educational path by attending the University of South Florida where she earned a Master’s Degree from the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Peggy worked at HARC (Hillsborough Association for Retarded Citizens) as an instructor. She also worked at Tampa United Methodist preschool with infants and toddlers with severe developmental disabilities. From there she went to work at Florida State as an infant stimulation specialist. She assisted her husband Jeff at Self Reliance which was a rehabilitation facility for persons with SCI (spinal cord injuries). In the late 1980’s, she went to work for Florida VR (Vocational Rehabilitation) and did tremendous work for that agency. After Peg moved to Georgia, she worked for Georgia State ‘s Vocational Rehabilitation Department and rose through the ranks to eventually oversee VR for the whole state. In 1994, she was voted GARS (Georgia Association of Rehabilitation Services) Boss of the Year. She was crowned Reigning Queen of the West District Director of the “West District” for 1992-1996. After retiring in 2000, Peg and Jeff started a consulting service, writing life plans for persons with Spinal Cord Injury. They both dedicated their lives together to make the world a better and more inclusive place for persons with SCI.
She was preceded by in death by her husband of 42 years Jeffrey C. Roulston and her parents Louis Feser and Elizabeth Newnan Feser.
Peggy is survived by a sister, Elizabeth L. “Betty Lou” Ward of Sunrise, FL and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Ricky Bybee officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Palatka Women’s Golf Association, 1715 Moseley Ave., Palatka, FL 32177.
