To think of Marie is to think of beautiful gardens and walls of books; she cultivated both. She was an amazing mother and devoted wife of 47 years, always giving of herself to take care of her family. She was close with and exceptionally proud of her daughter and her son. She had a special relationship with both of her grandsons, and spending time with them brought her the greatest joy. Some of her happiest moments were spent with her hands in the dirt, creating the luscious landscape that surrounds her home. She worked in the Florida public school system in Putnam County for 28 years, retiring as a Media Specialist from Interlachen High School. She maintained relationships with her students long after their graduations, remaining invested in their lives and their successes. She passed from this world on July 3, 2023, at the age of 67 after a year and a half of battling lung cancer. She will be greatly missed and loved eternally.
Marie is survived by her husband Gary, son Chris (Leann), daughter Valerie, grandsons Gunner and Sawyer, brother Dean (Grace), sister Nicki (John), Aunt Genie, and several nephews.
In honor of her wishes, no service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association of North and Central Florida, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
