Mary Lou Berry, 81, of Palatka, passed from this life on Monday, May 29, 2023 at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital following an extended illness. She was a native of Three Oaks, Michigan and had lived in Putnam County since 1986. Mary Lou had worked as a receptionist for Dr. Robert Melosh and had also worked for J.C. Penney. She was very active with the Veteran of Foreign Wars as Auxiliary President for 7 years and had also serviced as Treasurer and Secretary. Her favorite VFW projects were the annual toy drive for Elves for Kids and the school supply give-away for Putnam County students and teachers. Mary Lou had also enjoyed supporting the Heart of Putnam Food Pantry.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alan Berry, parents, Mathias and Dorothy Chilson and brother, Robert Chilson.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Sabrina Berry, grandchildren, Annika Calling and Zach Davis, and brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Linda Berry.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at the VFW Post 3349, 3201 Reid St, Palatka, FL 32177.
