Obituary for Michael Chamblee

Michael Oliver Chamblee, 69, of Palatka, passed from this life on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka. Born in Dade City, Florida to Sherwood Chamblee and Beatrice Williams Vermeulen (Schumacher), he lived in Interlachen for several years. In high school, Mike was an outstanding athlete and played football. Following high school, Mike served honorably as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was a purple heart recipient. He had worked as an equestrian trainer and foal deliverer with various horse farms in the Marion County area.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, David Chamblee and Benny Chamblee.
Mike is survived by 2 sons, William Watson and Jard Nichols, his step-father, Lee Schumacher, 2 brothers, Harold Cason (Bethany) and Ed Cason (Diane), 2 sisters, Diane Hager (Junior) and Kristina Brown (Steve), a granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Willie B. McKinnon, Jr. officiating. The U.S. Marine Corp provided military honors.
