Obituary for Michael Wallace DuPont

Michael Wallace DuPont, 79, of Federal Point, passed from this life on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at his home following a . A native of St. Augustine, he was a lifelong resident of Federal Point. Michael had worked 24 years with Florida Power and Light as a storeroom / supply manager before transitioning to the St. Johns River Water Management District where he served as Asset Manager for 17 years. A long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Palatka, Michael was a deacon, sang in the choir, worked with the youth and in RA’s and also served as the softball team coach. In his leisure time, Michael enjoyed fishing, shrimping, hunting and taxidermy. He was remembered as a very hospitable man and loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace C. DuPont and Nancy Tenney DuPont and 3 brothers, Stephen DuPont, Jon Mark DuPont and Roger DuPont.
Michael is survived by his wife of 59 years, Norma Carroll DuPont, 2 daughters, Michele DuPont and Melonie Warner (Robert), a son, Michael W. DuPont, Jr. (Opal), a sister, Laurie Sue Holt, 5 grandchildren, Zachariah DuPont (Makayla), Noah DuPont (Shelby), Josiah DuPont, Ethan Warner and P. J. Brown (Collier), 5 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jackson, Austin, Wyatt and Josey as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
Memorial services celebrating Michael’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Palatka with Pastor Ron Smith and Rev. Vernon Harkey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to First Baptist Church, 501 Oak St., Palatka, FL 32177 or to Rodeheaver Boys Ranch, 380 Boys Ranch Road, Palatka, FL 32177.
