Nancy Reel Spurles, 86, of Bardin, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at North Florida Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was a native of Sanford, FL and had lived in Bardin since 1948 coming from St. Mary’s, GA. Nancy had worked downtown at JC Penney for several years and later worked in the records department for the Putnam County Clerk of Courts where she retired after many years of service. She had also worked at several of Putnam County Public Library’s. Nancy was a pioneer member of Faith Baptist Church in Palatka and had also attended Midway Baptist Church in Bardin. She had a passion for flower gardening and especially loved Camelia’s. Nancy enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Spurles, parents, Clifford and Lulu Reel, and sister, Linda Johnson.
She is survived by her children, James H. Willis, Jr. (Cheryl), Cynthia Drew (Platt), Susy Skidmore (John), and Joe Willis (Jennifer Burgess), stepdaughter, Brenda Raber (Rick), sister, Patricia Varnes, brother, Richard Reel (Thelma), grandchildren, Jamie, Kami, Platt Jr., Melanie, John Jr., and Jordan as well as numerous great-grandchildren and other extended family members.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021, at Johnson-Overturf Chapel with Rev. John Cameron officiating.
