Obituary for Ray Charles Barnett

Ray Charles Barnett, 66, of Green Cove Springs, passed from this life on Monday, February 15 ,2021 at Community Hospice in Jacksonville following a brief illness. A native of Tampa, he was a 1973 graduate of Leto High School in Tampa. Ray resided in Green Cove Springs since 2016 where he worked as the general manager for Holeshot Power Sports in Fleming Island. Prior to moving to Green Cove Springs, he served as the general manager of the Harley-Davidson Store in Ocala for 15 years. Ray had a heart of sharing and gave of his time and resources to help with fund-raising efforts with organizations such as the Police Athletic League (PAL), local food pantries and numerous other organizations that benefitted kids including Toys For Tots. In his leisure time, Ray could be found boating, golfing, going to casinos (Black-Jack) and singing karaoke (Elvis). He also thoroughly loved riding his motorcycle and especially when he was leading Poker runs to raise funds for one of the organizations he supported. Ray’s impact on the community will continue to live on in the lives of those he sought to better.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ondina Angela Rodriguez Barnett.
Ray is survived by his wife of 4 years, Sandy Barnett of Green Cove Springs, a daughter, Jennifer Santillan (Edgar) of Lutz, his father, Nicholas Ray Barnett of Odessa, 3 brothers, Miguel Barnett of Brooksville, Mark Barnett (Laurie) of Odessa and Carl Morgan (Jessica) of St. Augustine, 4 grandchildren, Jason Crawford, Ryan Crawford, Elise Santillan and A.J. Santillan as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
