Obituary for Raymond Winston Tucker

Raymond Winston Tucker, 69, of Palatka, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at UF Health in Gainesville following a brief illness. He was a native of Selma, AL and had lived in Putnam County most of his life. Raymond was a 1968 graduate of Palatka High School and served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He had worked 10 years as an insurance agent for several area insurance companies including Western Southern. He had also worked as a service technician for Florida Pest Control for 9 years and later worked in the Water Department for the City of Palatka. Raymond was a talented dog trainer and was known in the area as the “Putnam County Dog Whisperer.” He was a member of Peniel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Raymond also enjoyed hunting in his leisure time.
He is preceded in death by his father, Sidney Albert Tucker (who passed when Raymond was very young) and his mother, Myrtle Erlene Bennett.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years , Kaye Tucker of Palatka, son, Raymond W. Tucker, II of Palatka, father who raised him, Ralph Bennett of Palatka, two men who were “like sons,” James Storey and Aaron Thomas, grandchild, Raeleigh Tucker and great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Zoey, several cousins and his beloved church family.
Due to the COVID-19 virus and the stay-at-home order issued by Gov. DeSantis, memorial services will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Peniel Baptist Church Building Fund, 5227 Silver Lake Dr., Palatka, FL 32177.
