Obituary for Robert Albert "Bob" Mericle Sr.
Robert “Bob” Mericle, 80, of St. Augustine, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 21, 2022. Bob was born in New Jersey and lived in Northeast Florida for the past 70 years.
Bob entered the insurance industry shortly after graduating from Jacksonville University. The majority of his career was with Gulf Life Insurance Co. in Jacksonville. Bob cherished his family and had a lifetime enjoyment of boating and fishing. He shared his time volunteering for Haven hospice as well as serving on the Summerhouse board of directors. Bob was an avid Florida Gators fan and was known to many as “Gator Bob”. He was a loyal friend, a man of integrity, a dedicated worker and a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. All who knew Bob felt blessed to have known him. Bob was a gentleman, always being gracious and kind to others.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jonnie Mericle, three sons, Rob Mericle (Wanda), Greg Mericle (Jill) and John Mericle (Dixie), eight precious grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Brother Gary Mericle (Sandra). He also had many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, friends, and special caregivers.
Services celebrating Bob’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center at 6400 St Johns Ave, Palatka, FL 32177.
