Obituary

Robert Duane “Bob” Trump passed peacefully into eternal life on December 1, 2020 after 81 years upon this earth. A native Floridian, Bob was born to parents Charles Duane and Florida Elizabeth Powell Trump on March 30,1939 in Arcadia, Florida. He had one sister, Lois Yvonne Trump Haddad. Bob graduated from DeSoto County High School in 1957 and went on to study Engineering at Auburn University in Alabama. He worked as a Student-Engineer with the Florida East Coast Railway in St. Augustine and there met the former Miss St. Augustine, Virginia Eatman, who became the love of his life. They were married on June 5, 1960 and moved to Palatka in 1970 where they were blessed to raise their three children, Duane Trump (Dawn La Monte), Mary Beth Hedstrom (Randy) and Jeff Trump (Tami). Although Bob loved his title of Dad, one of his favorite titles was GrandBob. He has nine Grandchildren, Cody Trump (Cristine), Zachary Trump (Robyn), Sarah Trump and Emily Trump, Mark Hedstrom (Amy), Gray Hedstrom, Priscilla Frank, Alina Trump (Heidi) and Miranda Bahr (Tyler); and seven Great Grandchildren, Lily Collins, Peyton and Carsyn Frank, Bryson and Bayne Wheeler and Hayden Bahr, and Tripp Hedstrom. Countless nieces, nephews and friends of his children and grandchildren also got to call him GrandBob.
At Southern Bell, Bob had the title Outside Plant Engineer and he retired from Bell South with over 35 years of service.
Bob received the three symbolic degrees of Freemasonry and was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in 1965. He was a perpetual member of Pineland Lodge No. 86 and received his 50-year membership award in 2015. In 2006, Bob was elected and installed as the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Florida, one of his most esteemed titles. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a Nobel of Morocco Shrine, a Prophet of Zangi Grotto, and he served as the Grand Representative to the Grand Lodge of New Brunswick. In 1986, Bob was elected and served as the Grand Royal Patron of the Grand Court of Florida Order of the Amaranth and served as the Deputy Supreme Royal Patron of the Supreme Council. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, an Honorary Member of many lodges throughout Florida, a Kentucky Colonel and Duke of Hazard from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and an Honorary “Conch” from the Republic of Key West.
Bob was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church for many years.
A devoted family man, Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and all outdoor activities, including cooking. He believed every day you got to fish or hunt didn’t count against you. Bob was involved in Little League sports and while his teams never won a Super Bowl or World Series, many men, even today, still call him “Coach.” His Little League baseball team sponsored by the Palatka Bakery went undefeated and won the City Championship in 1976.
A memorial service for Bob will be held at a future date due to COVID. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 400 Reid Street Palatka, FL 32177 or the Masonic Home of Florida, c/o Grand Lodge of Florida, P. O. Box 1020, Jacksonville, FL 32201.
Memories and condolences may be expressed to the family at Bob’s Book of Memories page at www.johnsonoverturffunerals.com .
Memorial arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka and will be announced later.

M:.W:. Bro. Bob was a good man. He was always ready to help others in distress. I had the great honor to work with him periodically in the fraternity we both loved. His leadership and integrity provided an example to others, and made interacting with him a pleasure. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Trump family during their time of sorrow.

We were so saddened to hear about Bob’s passing. CC loved to talk with him at the “round table” on Sunday mornings where they shared hunting and fishing stories and lots of laughs. Bob and I served on committees together and I admired his insight, knowledge and caring for St James. He will truly be missed but never be forgotten. We will have wonderful memories of Bob. Our love to Virginia and the family. Praying for all of you. CC sand Sandy Garner
