Obituary for Ronald Neil "Ronnie " Becker

Ronald Neil Becker, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Flagler Hospital after a brief illness.
Affectionately known as “Mole”, Ronnie was born in Woodbine, GA on April 5, 1948, to Mr. and Mrs. William Becker. When he was 8 years old, the family relocated to Palatka where Ronnie made a mark on our little town. Ronnie attended Putnam County schools and graduated from Palatka Senior High School in 1967. After graduation, Ronnie enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve, Palatka Transportation Unit, 292nd. Ronnie was employed with Florida Power and Light Company and retired after 35 years of service.
Ronnie married the love of his life, Beverly Galloway of Palatka, on April 5, 1975. Together they lovingly raised two kids, Casey and Micah Becker. Ronnie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he held the office of an Elder. He held many callings within the Church, one of which he especially loved was teaching Adult Sunday School. He loved the Lord with all his heart and displayed his faith through acts of kindness each and every day.
Ronnie loved Merle Haggard, Gator football, and classic cars, especially the Shelby Cobra. He was a practical joker with a genuine heart of gold. He was known for his friendliness and never hesitated to let people know that he loved them. Ronnie had a powerful patriotic sense of justice, courage, and optimism. He loved his Country and Southern Heritage.
You could always find Ronnie with his brother, Dale “Weasel” Becker, and best friend, Tank Motes, at CP Deli for breakfast or Bradley’s for lunch. If you didn’t find him there, he was surely with one of his grandbabies. A devout family man, Ronnie was “Granddaddy” to 7 grandchildren and known as “Granddaddy” to many others.
Ronnie was truly a special man. He represented the good that we will all need every day in our lives. He was a man of honor and integrity and fiercely loved his family and friends. People that knew him always waited for his embracing hugs. It has been said that he was a true angel on earth.
He is survived by his loving family; wife, Beverly Galloway Becker; children, Casey (Matt) Buckles and Micah (Logan) Becker; grandchildren, Jenna, Brent, Taylor, and Davis Buckles, and Texlee, Cruz, and Perri Becker; brothers, Dale (Linda) Becker and Joe Mac (Cathy) Becker; sister, Sandee (Donnie) Smith; mother-in-law, Katie L. Galloway; brothers-in-law, James (Debby) Galloway, Gary (Dee) Galloway, John (MaryLouise) Galloway; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of other family and friends.
Special friends to Ronnie were David Buckles, Tank Motes, and Charlie and Karon Payne.
Visitation will be from 6pm-8pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral home.
