Obituary for Ronald Dale Holderfield

Ronald Dale “Ronnie” Holderfield, 66, of Melrose and formerly of Palatka, passed from this life on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville following an extended illness. Born in Mobile, Alabama, he graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile in 1975. Ronnie was an electrician and instrumentation technician (INE) for 32 years most recently working at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill from 1995 – 2006. Prior to that he had worked shut-downs at several companies including Cortal, Dugusa, Chevron and in a shipyard. He was a member of the College Road Church of Christ. Ronnie was an accomplished guitarist and enjoyed playing on Monday evenings at the Interlachen Community Center. He was also a Black Belt in Karate and had coached Babe Ruth Baseball in Interlachen. Ronnie was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan!
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Devon Holderfield.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cindy Holderfield of Melrose, a son, Brandon Dale Holderfield and 2 daughters, Amanda Holderfield (Landon Stockton) and Courtney Holderfield (Stephen Whatley), all of Melrose, his mother, Winnie Holderfield Hazelwood of Semmes, AL, a brother, Gary Holderfield (Theresa) of Wilmer, AL and 7 grandchildren, Gavin Stockton, Everhett Dale Stockton, Nevaeh Stockton, Averi Holderfield-Knowles, Hayden Whatley, Asa Dale Whatley and Jayden Manning.
Services celebrating Ronnie’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Interlachen with Bro. C.L. Overturf, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at PineView Cemetery in Interlachen. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Interlachen.
