Sara Lambert Dew, 93, of Palatka, peacefully passed away
Sunday, January 9, 2022 at her home following an extended
illness.
Born in Tallahassee on July 5, 1928, Sara graduated from
Leon High School, followed by an education degree from
Florida State University.
She was employed for many years by the Putnam County
School District, working primarily at Moseley Elementary. She
was a well-loved and often requested first grade teacher.
Sara was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist
Church, devoting many hours to the Wesley Ann Circle. She
was especially proud of helping to create their Chrismon Tree
tradition, which has endured for more than 30 years.
She was married for 57 wonderful years to the love of her
life, the late Edwin Dew. Sara enjoyed the beach, crocheting,
yoga and line dancing, and most of all spending time with her
beloved family.
She is survived by three daughters, Sarah (Carlos) Azula,
Susan (Bill) Phillips, Sydney (Joe) Breton, and a son, Chip
(Terri) Dew; 7 grandchildren, Sasha Brockwell, J.D. Azula
(Michelle), John Michael Azula, Lynsey Wrenn (Christopher),
Chad Dew (Bridgett), Dustin Phillips, and Clay Breton (Kelsey);
11 great-grandchildren; and her best friend of 60 years, Evelyn
Hewett.
She will be missed by her Tallahassee family which includes
sister-in-law, Barbara Lambert; sisters Mary Louise Horn and
Margaret Carter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 14, 2022 at
Trinity United Methodist Church in Palatka with Pastor John
Bennett officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M., one
hour prior to the service. Graveside services and burial will be
held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 15,2022 at Oakland
Cemetery in Tallahassee.
Due to safety concerns with the Covid 19 virus, all
attending are requested to wear a facial covering.

Memorial donations are gratefully accepted by Haven Hospice
