Obituary for Shirley Ann Day
Shirley Ann Day, 85, of Palatka, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Florence, South Carolina, she resided in Palatka since 1977 coming here from Miami. Shirley worked as a caregiver in the healthcare industry. She attended First Baptist Church in San Mateo and Trinity Baptist Church in Palatka. Shirley loved her “lunch dates”, going out to eat with family and friends. She loved listening to Saturday Night Gold Rush with her children and grandchildren and was an avid Conway Twitty fan. Shirley cherished time spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Day, her parents, James A. Morris and Selena Adeline Morris, a son, Tommy E. Day, a grandson David Day, 2 great-grandsons, Gavin Day and Wyatt Day and 7 siblings Gertrude Rich, Ruth Markel, Cherrie Albritton, Alva Porter, Sandra Faye Morris, Ronnie Morris and James Alvis Morris.
Shirley is survived by her children, Donna Wilkinson (Steve) and Ricky Day (Patti) and Sheryl Harper (Philip) all of Palatka. Siblings, Macey Thomas of Bostwick, James Morris (Hilda) of Interlachen and Anthony Morris of Interlachen, 10 grandchildren, Deanna Mullins (R.J), Steven Wilkinson, Ricky Day, Jr. (Ashleigh), Donnie Day, Katie Marshall (Kevin), Philip Harper (Cassidy), Hunter Harper (Drew Bellamy), Lennox Harper, Aaron Kerwin, Jr., Joshua Kerwin (Liz), Amy Day, 27 great-grandchildren, Maysen Harper, Hudson Harper, Sawyer Bellamy, Garett Mullins, Jaiden Mullins, Gracie Mullins, Jaxson Mullins, Gatlin Mullins, Jensyn Mullins, Bentley Day, Lilly Cone, Braxton Day, Lexis Day, Bodie Day, Dezi Day, Zach Marshall, Zane Marshall, Dalton Kerwin, Easton Kerwin, Mason Kerwin, Ava Kerwin, Ireland Hancock, Canten Belden, Gauge Hancock, Nevaeh Cheshire, Bree Day, Kayleigh Rousseau, Juan Carrasquillo and Mia Carrasquillo and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating Shirley’s life will be at 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Pastors A.J. Hatfield and Ricky Bybee officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. until time of services at 5:00 P.M.
Entombment will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Dade Memorial Park in Miami.
