Obituary for Stuart Brent McColm

Stuart Brent McColm, 37, of St. Augustine, passed from this life on Thursday, October 26, 2023 in Jacksonville. Born in Glen Dale, West Virginia, Stuart moved to Palatka in 1990 from Charlotte, North Carolina and was a 2004 graduate of Palatka High School. After high school, Stu remained in the North Florida area residing in Jacksonville and St. Augustine. Stu received a Culinary Arts Diploma, he was a graduate of Wyotech in Daytona with a Diploma in Marine Technology. He was also a graduate of the Florida State Fire College in Ocala. Stu worked in the Fire Suppression Industry with Cintas and more recently with Dyna-Fire.
Stu could always be found with a fishing pole. He developed the love of fishing from an early age. He also enjoyed boating and spending much of his free time on or near the water with his fishing pole. Stu also enjoyed cooking, tending to his many plants, surfing, music and spending time with friends and family. Stu also had a love for animals and had several dog companions over the years. Stu enjoyed playing with their dog Willy and he could always be found on the boat with Stu.
Stu will be remembered for his kind and generous heart. He always had the ability to lift others up and bring them together. He will be deeply missed by all those who cared for him.
Stu was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Cooper McColm and Virginia “Ginny” Jones McColm. His maternal grandparents Harold and Eva Jean Jones and paternal grandparents Harry and Mary Rose McColm.
Stu is survived by his fiancé, Holly Fauser of St. Augustine, 2 sisters, Victoria McColm of St. Petersburg and Christine McColm of Palatka, a brother Cooper McColm (Hope) of Thomasville, GA and several nieces and nephews, Liv McColm, Cooper McColm, Charlie McColm, Jackson McColm and Evelyn McColm as well as several aunts, an uncle and cousins.
Memorial services celebrating Stuart’s life will be at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Kevin Barker officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services at 3:00 P.M.
