Obituary of Susan Elise Walwik

Writing an obituary is one of the most honorable tasks to be given. In a few short words ones life is to be represented and wrapped up in a line of sentences sharing a story of life. No amount of words or punctuation marks can narrate or exclaim the miracle born on May 14, 1970, named Susan Elise Walwik.
Beginning that day a plan was put in place for a human to touch the lives of thousands of individuals by her sweet smile cherished by all. Every moment counted as Susan volunteered 30 years of service at Putnam County Medical Center, participated in Girl Scouts of America, graduated in the Class of 1989 from Palatka High School, continuing her education at St. Johns River College in Medical Transcriptions. Words mattered to Susan and flowed freely from her heart as she encouraged and spoke to everyone she met. It was a part of her nature whether she was sitting at home doing millions of crossword puzzles, to loving up on her cat Princess, to sharing with the Ladies Guild at St. Monica Catholic Church; Susan scripted a message on everyone’s heart. Her legacy will continue in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her parents are Bill and Nancy Walwik; brother Greg Walwik, his wife Page and her two nephews Andrew and Ryan Walwik. She leaves behind an Aunt Barbara Walwik in Pennsylvania, Uncle Mike Tressel in New Jersey and many cousins.
Services for Susan Elise Walwik will begin Friday, September 18, 2020 with visitation from 5 to 7pm at Johnson Overturf Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 10am with a mass celebrating her life at St. Monica Catholic Church with Father Ron Camarda officiating. Immediately after the mass the interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery East.
In accordance with City of Palatka ordinances concerning Covid 19 guidelines, all attendees will be required to wear a face covering at the funeral home and at the church.

Susan made all the people she met better versions of themselves. What a remarkable gift she was to the world. Uncle Bill, Aunt Nancy, and Greg I wish we could be there with you.

It was always a pleasure when Susan would come into the gift shop after her shift. She would station her chair in order to watch for which parent was picking her up that day. She liked to look at the jewelry, especially when we got a new shipment. She always had a smile on her pretty face. I will miss seeing her when and if volunteers are allowed to go back to "work".

The world has lost a brilliant light. Though we had no contact since our High School days, Susan’s kindness and friendship through childhood and particularly in my early years of High School had an impact, and I remember her with fondness and gratitude for her gracious spirit. My deepest condolences to her family and those friends who knew her better and who were even more deeply and profoundly touched by her life. Even those of us on the periphery were influenced by her. I cannot image the sense of loss for those nearer her orbit. Blessings, peace, and grace in these days of deep change. Walter Rogero

Susan was a true ambassador for Putnam Community Medical Center. She took on many volunteer responsibilities over the years with grace and always a smile on her face. She truly was an example for others to aspire to. We have already missed her every day and will continue to do so. Prayers to her family!

I will always remember our Walter playing on the swings with your Susan at The Learning Hut. Thanks to the fast action of Miss Nancy, Susan was saved from a fall when Walter tried to help her get on to a swing there. She was one of the sweetest People I believe that I ever have met. Her obit is indeed the best written I have ever read. (I used to write the obits for the paper many years ago.) Susan will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. Albert & Donna Rogero
