Tomasa Almeida Mock, 75, of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 in Gainesville following a long illness. She was born in Brownsville, Texas and lived in Satsuma off and on for over 30 years coming from Ft. Lauderdale. She had also resided in Statesboro, Georgia and most recently lived in Gainesville. In addition to being a homemaker, Tomasa had also worked as a housekeeper in the hotel industry. She was a former member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Crescent City and was currently a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gainesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Sr. and Tomasa Almedia, sisters, Rita Almeida and Pura A. Marshall, a brother, Antonio Almeida who passed an hour before Tomasa did and a niece Angela Wood.
Tomasa is survived by her son, Joey Ray Mock, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Kristy Hanks, her grandchildren, her pride and joy, Henry Mock and Charles Mock, four brothers, Oscar Almeida, Jr. of Vero Beach, Juan Almeida (wife Sue) of North Carolina, Alberto Almeida (wife Sheryl Kay) of Satsuma, Arturo Almeida (wife Beth) of Texas, sister-in-law, Virginia Alonzo Almeida, several nieces and nephews, including Thomas and Lisa Sadler-Marshall of Palatka, Connie and Eddie Westberry of Satsuma, Javier and Andrea Almeida (Pomona Park), Virginia and Douglas Hurlburt of Pomona Park and numerous other nieces and nephews as well as numerous great-grand nieces and nephews including Delia Marshall of Palatka, Eddie Westberry and Danny and Tina Westberry of Satsuma.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 8, 2020 at Palatka Memorial Gardens with Father Jim May officiating.
Due to concerns with the Covid 19 virus, all attending the services will be required to wear a facial covering and practice distancing guidelines. The services will also be live-streamed and may be accessed at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Catholic Charities or to a favorite local food bank.
