Vera May Sisson, 88, of Satsuma, went home to Jesus and finally re-united with the love of her life, Robert, on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center. She was born and raised in Sodus, Michigan and later lived in Indiana before moving to Satsuma in 1981. Vera had worked as a cafeteria worker at Browning Pearce Elementary School. Previously she worked with the Heath Corporation in Benton Harbor, MI and at the warehouse at Pic-N-Save in Jacksonville, FL. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Satsuma. Vera was a very strong woman and role model who persevered and overcame numerous health obstacles over the years. She was a very active person who enjoyed shopping, gardening, birdwatching, dancing, decorating for the holidays and going to the beach. Vera was an avid bowler and belonged to several bowling teams and was also a very good cook and enjoyed having family and friends over. She dearly loved babies, be it her grandchildren or friends’ children and was especially fond of her dog Molly who was her “baby”.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert George Sisson, her parents, Ralph and Adeline Mack and a brother, Duane Mack.
Vera is survived by her children, Janet Figel (Larry) of Eau Claire, MI, Michael Sisson of Peru, IN and Debora Harp (Keith) of Satsuma, a sister, Betty Bailey of MI, 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Services celebrating Vera’s life will be at 6:00 P.M. Friday, May 6, 2022 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Chaplain Tim Senter officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 P.M. until the services at 6:00 P.M.
