Obituary for Victor Joseph "Vic" Szatkowski

Victor Joseph “Vic” Szatkowski, 83, Council Member of 8 years for the Town of Pomona Park, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 26, 2023, at his home in Pomona Park.

“Vic” was born in Alpena, Michigan and served his country proudly in the US Army. He came to live in the Pomona Park area 43 years ago coming from Daytona Beach where he resided for 15 years. Before coming to Florida, he owned and operated a body shop in Harrisville, Michigan. After coming to Pomona Park, he owned T. & G. Marine in Welaka and became the world’s largest Gambler boat dealer. He was a member of South Putnam Kiwanis Club, and he operated his own private soup ministry and was known as “Soup R Man. In his spare time, he loved fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor, and Nellie Szatkowski; his son, Victor B. Szatkowski; siblings, David, Francis, and Jeanette Szatkowski, Nancy Ball and Joan Munford.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judy Szatkowski; daughters, Laura Dahlke, Linda (Brendon) Mac Neill and Kimberly (Marc) Hall; siblings, Marie (Mike) Twite, Larry (Carolyn) Szatkowski, Karen Sylvester, Dale Szatkowski, Kenneth Szatkowski and James Szatkowski; Grandchildren: Lexi Dahlke, Chris Hampton, Hailey Johnson, Seth and Noah Hall. Great-Grandchildren: Lucas Johnson, Grey, Nolan, Brooks Hall, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services celebrating Vic’s life will be held at Pomona Park Community Center, 200 East Main Street receiving guests at 10:30 A. M. with services beginning at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 16, 2023. Military honors will be presented by the United States Army.
