Obituary for Virginia Ray Alexander

Virginia Ray Alexander, 80, of Interlachen, passed from this life on Friday, July 10, 2020 at her home following an extended illness. She was a native of Axson, Georgia and had lived in Putnam County for the past 40 years coming from Amarillo, Texas. Virginia had worked as a bank teller for Barnett Bank in Palatka and Gainesville as well as M & S Bank in Hawthorne. She had also worked at the consignment shop, Downstairs Closet, in the Palatka Mall. In her leisure time, Virginia enjoyed sewing.
She is preceded in death by her son, Johnny Daniel “Danny” Alexander, Jr. and her parents, Daniel and Winne White.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Johnny Alexander, daughters, Rhonda Davis and Cindy Woods (Billy), half-sister, Gloria Wilkerson, 4 grandchildren, Amanda Cavender (Billy), Jill Mason (Ricky), Joshua Fender, and Jenny Alexander, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Alexander, Kristin and Austin.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Interlachen with Rev. Gene Maddox officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral on Thursday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
