Obituary for Wayne Hart

F. Wayne Hart, 82, of East Palatka, passed from this life on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka. A native of Brookhaven, Mississippi, Wayne moved to Putnam County in 1996 from Los Angeles, CA. An Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, he was a graduate of Southern Mississippi University and a proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Wayne had a very successful career as a YMCA professional. He was Operations Director for the nine branches of Metropolitan Jacksonville and then became Vice President of Operations for the twenty-seven branches of the YMCA of Los Angeles. He developed a unique system of Staff and Program Evaluations which was used throughout YMCA’s across the country. Bob Dye, a fellow YMCA professional stated, Wayne Hart was an extremely gifted Administrator—one of the best in the country.” Upon moving to Putnam County, he became extremely involved with the Habitat for Humanity and was likewise one of the founding members of the Eddie Mooney Foundation. Wayne had also been an active member of St. James United Methodist Church and more recently had been attending Grace Fellowship in Palatka.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Sharene K. Hart and his parents Carroll B. Hart and Francis DuBose Hart.
Wayne is survived by his 2 daughters, Stephanie Twitty (David) of Jacksonville and Staci Kinard (Lee) of Palatka, a brother, Ed Hart (Sally) of Atlanta, GA, 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services celebrating Wayne’s life will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Grace Fellowship with Pastor Terry Wright officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to the Eddie Mooney Foundation, The ARC of Putnam County, 1209 Westover Drive, Palatka, FL 32177.
