Obituary for William Earnie "Bubby" McDonald

William Earnie “Bubby” McDonald, 49, of Palatka, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital in Gainesville. He was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka and was of the Baptist faith. Bubby had worked in the construction industry for many years and most recently worked for Nellie Property Investments. He was an avid fan of the Florida Gators and NASCAR’s Jimmy Johnson. Bubby enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time aggravating his family. He never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Howard McDonald, maternal grandparents, Earnie and Alene Hersey and paternal grandparents, Eugene and Della McDonald.
He is survived by his daughter, Jenna McDonald (Thomas Brown IV), mother and stepfather, Janice and Carlos Hernandez, companion, Becky Crabtree, stepchildren, Whitney Collins (Mathew), Brittany Thomas and Joshua Carruth, sister, Melissa McQuaig, brother, Brian “Homer” Driggers (Sara) and Johnny Batts, Sr. who was like a brother to Bubby. He is also survived by grandchildren, Brayson and Hayden Ford, Westen Wilkinson and twins grandbabies on the way, step grandchildren, Zachary, Gabriel, Serenity and Maverick, and many other extended family members including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Pastor Willie McKinnon officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Palatka. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and Thursday, December 1, 2022 beginning at 10:00 am until time of services.
