William Edward “Big Eddie” Sheppard, Jr., 65, of Interlachen, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following a long battle with cancer. Big Eddie was a graduate of Interlachen High School and had worked as a truck driver for many years. He had also worked at Edgar Sand Plant before moving with his family to Alaska in 1989 where he ran heavy equipment and built ice roads on the Northern Slope. Big Eddie moved back to Florida in 1999 and resumed driving a truck until his retirement in 2017. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was happiest when he was in the woods or on a bank.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Nettie Sheppard.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas Sheppard, Elrond Sheppard (Cindy) and Jeffery Sheppard, grandchildren, Ethan Sheppard, Alise Sheppard and Coy Tyre, sisters, Doris Tate, Fay Tyre (favorite brother-in-law, Mike), and Glenda Sheppard, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews that were loved dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on April 24, 2021 at Big Eddie’s home, 909 Old Gainesville Highway, Interlachen, FL 32148.
