Obituary for Yvonne June Salmon

Yvonne June Salmon, 84, of East Palatka, passed from this life on Monday, July 4, 2022 at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine following an extended illness. Born in Belle Plaine, Iowa, she moved to Fruitland in 1964 coming from East Point, Georgia. In 2007 she moved to East Palatka. She and her husband, John Shannon Salmon owned and operated the Camp George Fishing Resort in Fruitland. Yvonne also worked at the Moseley Elementary School cafeteria for 17 years. Yvonne was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Crescent City. In addition to her joy of spending time with her family, she loved cooking, gardening and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Shannon Salmon, her parents, William John Struve and Julia Ruth Teslik Struve, a granddaughter, Olivia Mae Lauren McCumbers and 2 brothers, William Robert Struve and Dwaine Struve and a sister, Lucille Baldwin.
Yvonne is survived by a daughter, Sandra Sue Salmon McCumbers of Satsuma, 1 brother, Terry Struve, 5 sisters, Donna Judith Forrester, Jeannette Ross (Richard), Mary Lou Matheny, Ramona Purcell (Dennis) and Rachel Bulman (Randy), a granddaughter, Juliana Yvonne McCumbers (fiancé John Robert Radtke) and 2 great-grandchildren, Braden Eli James Green and Hector Daniel Flores.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 9, 2022 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Elkton with Father Steven Zehler as officiant. Burial will follow at St. Johns Catholic Cemetery in Crescent City. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
