Obituary

After being blessed with 90 years of life, Sylvester Comer loaded his last log and headed home, passing away on Monday July 6, 2020, after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Bardin, he would often share his fond memories of his childhood. Like his father, he grew up working in the woods. He was a logger his whole life owning Sylvester Comer Logging Business with his sons. He absolutely loved all aspects of the logging business and earned the title of Florida’s Logger of the Year in 2002. Logging was truly his calling in life.
He had a love for the outdoors, westerns, riding his tractor and his John Deere Gator. He had a great love affair with Ford vehicles, especially the F-150 of which he owned too many to count. He was able to go to The Rogue Plant in Dearborn to see his truck in production, which he loved.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his Heavenly Father.
After retirement he found only one hobby that he truly enjoyed and that was finding things for Malinda to do.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Jessie Comer, 3 brothers, Zanny, Oliver, J.R., 5 sisters, Lila Mae, Kathleen, Hazel, Junella, and Norma Jean and his beloved grandson, Levi.
He is survived by his wife, Malinda Comer, 6 wonderful children who loved, respected and supported him in everything he chose to do, Gary (JoDeane), Shella (John Bennett), Karen Stark, Sherri (John Ramirez), Shane (Lena), Michelle (Robbie Sanders), 15 grandchildren, Chad (April), Dustin (Suzy), Joe (Stacey), Lacey (JJ), Chris (Becky), Jodi (Allen), Kyle (Reyme), Kayla (Take), Amber (Greg), Justin, Josh (Jennifer), Cody, Chase, Camryn, and Layton, 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 sisters-in-law who he loved deeply, Betty, Doodle, Helen and Rachel.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Etoniah Cemetery in Bardin. The family requests due to COVID19 for attendees to please wear a mask out of consideration to others who may have weakened immune systems.
Flowers are gratefully accepted or the family requests that donations be sent to Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, FL 32177, whose care for Sylvester was wonderful.
Memories and condolences may be expressed to the family at www.johnsonoverturffunerals.com .
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
